French firm August & Debouzy has boosted its private equity practice with the hire of partner David Malamed from Weil Gotshal & Manges.
Malamed joined Weil two years ago from Gide Loyrette Nouel, where he was also a partner (16 December 2011). He specialises in acting for financial institutions on financing and restructuring, as well as litigation.
Recent transactions which Malamed has worked on include the restructuring of Médiannuaire, which owns the French version of the Yellow Pages, Pages Jaunes, for a group of private equity funds. Malamed also has a focus on advising investment funds, especially in the real estate sector.
He will be heavily involved in developing August & Debouzy’s funds capabilities, particularly when it comes to restructuring.
Senior associate Aude Manzo-Keszler is also moving to August & Debouzy from Weil.
Malamed is the first partner-level lateral hire for August & Debouzy for some time. The last recruit to join as a partner was Hugues Moutouh, who joined the public law team in September 2012 from a government position.
