Mayer Brown JSM has hired Hong Kong-based partner Gabriela Kennedy from Hogan Lovells to lead its intellectual property and technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) group in Asia.
Kennedy was previously a partner in Hogan Lovells’ IP and TMT group in Hong Kong. She has more than 19 years of experience advising on complex IP matters and transactions. She started her legal career as a trainee in legacy Lovells’ Hong Kong office in 1994 and was made up in 2003.
Dual qualified in Hong Kong and England and Wales, she has been involved in major IP and media litigation cases in Hong Kong, with a focus on copyright and digital piracy matters. She has also undertaken lobbying work on behalf of a number of international industry associations in relation to IP legislation in Hong Kong, particularly regarding copyright laws that advance the protection of digital rights.
She will be leading a team of four partners in Mayer Brown JSM’s IP and TMT group in Asia and is set to grow the practice.
