Hogan Lovells has hired Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s former Asia IP/IT and TMT head Mark Parsons as a partner in Hong Kong.
Parsons will join Hogan Lovells at the end of January. His practice has a particular focus on complex commercial transactions and regulatory matters in the TMT sector.
Parsons’ appointment comes after recent departure of IP/IT partner Gabriela Kennedy, who left Hogan Lovells to join Mayer Brown JSM’s Hong Kong office as Asia IP and TMT chief in October (21 October 2013).
Parsons will be the firm’s second IP/IT partner based in Hong Kong after Henry Wheare. He is admitted in Hong Kong, England and Wales, and Ontario, Canada.
Parsons relocated to Freshfields’ Hong Kong office from London in 2008 as counsel and was made up in 2012 (28 March 2012). He took over the Asia head of IP/IT role from partner Connie Carnabuci, who retired from the firm in May 2013.
Following Parsons departure, there is currently no partner in Freshfields’ IP practice in Hong Kong.
