DLA Piper has hired a partner each from Gilbert + Tobin and Ashurst to strengthen its corporate offerings in Sydney.
Bryan Pointon, previously a corporate partner at Gilbert + Tobin, will join DLA Piper’s Sydney office as a partner and will also take on the role of Asia Pacific corporate head.
Prior to joining Gilbert + Tobin in 2007, he was a partner at legacy Mallesons Stephen Jaques and had practised at Latham & Watkins in New York.
Another partner David Ryan joins from Ashurst Australia, formerly Blake Dawson. Ryan’s practice focuses on corporate and capital markets.
DLA Piper’s Australian has experience a high partner churn rate. Recent partner departures include employment partner Nick Ruskin, property partner Tom Cantwell, superannuation partner Heather Gary and her team in Melbourne, insurance partner Michael Down and life science partner Amanda Turnill in Sydney (6 September 2013).
