The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Hogan Lovells has boosted its litigation and arbitration practice in the US with the hire of three senior partners from Chadbourne & Parke.
The trio include Chadbourne’s former co-head of international arbitration, Oliver Armas, as well as its co-head of product liability, Phoebe Wilkinson.
Armas in particular will be seen as a coup for Hogan Lovells. In 2008 Chadbourne hired a team of lawyers from the Latin American practice of now-defunt US firm Thacher Proffitt & Wood, a deal that saw Chadbourne launch in Mexico City and which brought with it litigation partner Armas (11 August 2008).
Armas and Wilkinson, both of whom are based in New York, have had their profiles removed from Chadbourne’s website and have already started at Lovells.
The third hire is Luis Enrique Graham, the head of Chadbourne’s dispute resolution practice in Mexico City. Graham will continue to be based in Mexico City, though a statement from Lovells said he will also have a “significant presence” in New York.
A press statement from Hogan Lovells read: “Armas and Graham bring complementary experience in international arbitration and commercial litigation, while Wilkinson comes to the firm with a strong background in international products liability, particularly relating to life sciences issues.”
In December Chadbourne expanded its international arbitration team with the hire of Latham & Watkins partners Mark Beckett and Rachel Thorn to New York. When asked who would be replacing Armas a spokesperson suggested there would be no new hires, with Beckett leading the department.
Chadbourne has looked to boost its relationship with clients outside of America in recent weeks, overhauling various management positions in the EMEA region and introducing a new role of EMEA liaison partner (6 June 2013). As part of the shakeup insurance partner Adrian Mecz has been named London managing partner.
At the time of writing it was not certain who would be replacing Wilkinson or Graham.
