Veale Wasbrough Vizards (VWV) has swallowed up niche London property firm George Carter in a boost for its City base.
All of George Carter’s staff - consisting of three partners, two lawyers and around four support staff - will move to Veale Wasbrough Vizards London office from today (1 October).
George Carter posted estimated revenues of £1m in 2012/13, compared to Veale Wasbrough Vizards’ (VWV) £22.4m during the last financial year.
VWV’s managing partner Simon Heald said in a statement: “The development of our London office is a focal area. George Carter joining us with their client portfolio specialising in commercial and residential property supports and complements this focus and our growth plans.”
The firm has been pushing to grow its London office in recent months, rehiring former partner Sue Malthouse in November to boost the firm’s commercial offering after she spent 18 months with shoe retailer Clarks as group director of legal (29 November 2012).
VWV had sought to tie-up with Hewitsons last year only to call off talks six months after they were initiated (18 January 2013).
