Shepherd & Wedderburn has boosted its real estate practice in London with two new partner hires including the former head of property at Addleshaw Goddard.
Partner Jonathan Rickard joins from Addleshaws, where he was head of real estate in London. Focusing on commercial property transactions, Rickard has particular expertise in advising pension funds and institutions in connection with the sale and purchase of investment property. His recent clients include Ellandi, Hammerson and Bayerische Landesbank.
Sally Morris-Smith joined Shepherd & Wedderburn from Kennedys last month. Her work is oriented towards portfolio acquisitions, financing and complex development projects. Morris-Smith recently acted for Scarborough Development Group in its acquisition of a 21-acre development site in Salford.
Shepherd & Wedderburn’s CEO Stephen Gibb said in a statement: “Our real estate business has seen sustainable growth over a number of years now, and the addition of Sally and Jonathan is a clear indication of the investment we’re making in the future growth and success of both the real estate team and the London office.”
Real estate is one of Shepherd & Wedderburn’s three core sectors, alongside energy and natural resources and finance. In 2011-12 the group generated 13 per cent of the firm’s total revenue.
The Scottish firm has also appointed an associate, Kirsteen Milne, to the property and infrastructure team of its Edinburgh office. She joins from Semple Fraser, where she led their non-contentious construction team.
