Osborne Clarke has undergone a reshuffle of its sector and practice management, appointing corporate partner Conrad Davies as real estate and infrastructure head.
The sector’s former head, real estate disputes partner Leona Briggs, has been named as litigation practice group chief succeeding Peter Clough who stepped down as his term came to an end.
Having spent ten years in the management post, Clough will focus on fee-earning in the firm’s commercial litigation practice and energy sector group where he leads relationships with a number of clients.
Osborne Clarke’s real estate sector consists of 41 partners and 52 associates globally, and accounts for about a quarter of the firm’s UK revenues.
In his new role as sector head, corporate finance specialist Davies intends to promote each of the group’s sub-sectors – pointing to residential developers, student accommodation and infrastructure as particularly promising areas for the group.
“I’m lucky as Leona Briggs has been in the seat for the past four years, and has steered the ship through what’s accepted to have been a challenging market,” he said. “It’s an exciting time to take the reins across the group, and over the coming years I hope to see an increased take for the firm from the sector.”
Managing partner Simon Beswick said: “Under Peter’s leadership our litigation practice has grown in quality, size and reach. We are now involved in some of the leading international and domestic disputes and arbitrations, for which Peter and his colleagues deserve enormous credit.”
The shake-up follows a number of other management changes at Osborne Clarke, which elected Andrew Saul as its new senior partner in November (26 November 2013). Last month, partners voted employment head David Cubbitt to step into Saul’s shoes as the firm’s London managing partner (20 December 2013).
At the half-way point in 2013/14, the firm recorded a revenue increase of 12 per cent – rising to €71.6m (£59.8m). Osborne Clarke’s three UK offices saw their revenue grow by 8 per cent, while the amount of turnover generated by the firm’s UK key clients grew by 16 per cent (22 November 2013).
