Ashfords has expanded its real estate team with the hire of two lawyers from Allen and Overy (A&O) and Gordon Dadds.
A&O senior associate Jon Bola and Gordon Dadds partner Paul Barnes will join the firm in its new office in Fetter Lane, which houses commercial, real estate and private client teams.
The addition of Bola marks a strengthening of its real estate finance capacity. The partner is a real estate investment specialist and a combined 25 years at Dechert and A&O before moving to Ashfords.
Meanwhile Barnes will take up a role in the firm’s residential property team.
Ashfords’ 32-strong real estate group has 24 partners across its six offices. Its London team was based in Rochman Landau’s Baker Street office following its £30m merger in 2012 but is now moving to the City.
The London office will also be at the centre of the firm’s new plans to launch a range of professional non-legal services as part of its five year strategic plan. It will include services like project management, health and safety and regulatory advice and will be rolled out from its Bristol, Exeter and London offices (9 September 2013).
Earlier in the year the real estate team landed a role on Kevin McCloud MBE’s company HAB Housing earlier in the year for the first time (29 January 2014).
