Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester commercial litigation chief John Lord is to join TLT following the firm’s Manchester launch in July.
Lord is currently national head of recoveries for Irwin Mitchell and regional head of commercial litigation, specialising in corporate and contractual disputes in the financial services, leisure and utilities sectors.
He was regional head at Irwin Mitchell before stepping down earlier this year to the firm to focus on growing the Manchester office’s dispute resolution and insolvency offering (17 May 2013).
Lord was succeeded as Manchester head at Irwin Mitchell by Roy Beckett who joined as part of a four-partner real estate team from DLA Piper last year (19 October 2012).
Lord will join former Hill Dickinson commercial property partner Dan Sweeney, IP litigation partner Graeme Orchison, who joined after more than 17 years at DLA Piper (20 June 2013), as well as former Pinsent Masons commercial disputes partner Emma Flower and former DLA Piper commercial partner Stuart Campbell who were brought in to launch the office in the summer.
Commenting on the appointments TLT managing partner David Pester said: “We want to get the right people and the right expertise into the business to deliver for our clients when and where they need us”.
The firm is yet to confirm Lord’s start date.
Meanwhile, Thomas Eggar employment partner Esther Smith is to join TLT in Bristol after 15 years at the firm. She is currently on gardening leave and a start date at the new firm is yet to be confirmed.
