Bond Dickinson has hired Walker Morris’s IP head Patrick Cantrill in a boost for its IP and media team.
Cantrill is a longstanding partner at the Leeds firm and has headed its IP team for a number of years as well as co-chairing the firm’s China trade practice group. He advises on both contentious and non-contentious IP issues.
At Bond Dickinson Cantrill will split his time between Leeds and London.
The hire is the latest in a steady stream of partner and other senior-level appointments for Bond Dickinson since the 1 April 2013 merger between Bond Pearce and Dickinson Dees (6 December 2012), including most recently the hire of Osborne Clarke partners Mark Woodward and Robert Drewett.
A spokesperson for Walker Morris wished Cantrill well, adding: “Intellectual property and trade marks are important parts of our practice and we will continue to invest and strengthen the team with the recruitment of a new head of IP.”
Walker Morris has lost very few people in the past few years, particularly at partner level, although the firm recently announced the closure of its 48-strong personal injury department (21 November 2013).
