Kynoch joins BLP as a partner in its financial services and markets team. Kynoch specialises in helping banks comply with financial services regulation. He has worked with the Bank of New York Mellon, Northern Trust and Danske Bank. He is also a member of the City of London Law Society’s Regulatory Committee.
BLP has made a number of hires in the financial services sector of late. Last month DLA Piper’s former financial services head Daren Allen and Pinsent Masons partner Jacob Ghanty joined the team (17 January 2011).
In a statement Sidney Myers, head of BLP’s financial services group, said: “The regulatory burden falling on financial institutions from both the UK and EU authorities has grown significantly and is only set to increase.
“As a result, our clients need greater support to interpret and implement complex new compliance requirements. We’ve hired some of the leading individuals to make our team one of the strongest in the City. Nick’s yet another major figure in the industry; he’ll be a real asset to both our team and our clients.”
