  • Look, this is par for the course and happens at every ... single ... other ... law firm. This is not unique to SJB. Sometimes you fit at a firm, sometimes you don't. If you don't, you move on, and everybody continues as is.

Have looked up LM. Firstly, hello. Secondly, not sure why everybody assumes she's also off - doesn't appear to me that she works exclusively for him.

This article really does have everybody incredibly excited and jumping to assumptions - Brinkworth made the deal; it's because of the merger. Big deal? A partner exit is nothing new.

  • Worked with Ed Harris at SJB and whilst demanding was incredibly nice and a pleasure to work for.

  • Anon @ 3:04pm - yeah, it's Davis and Harris who have the most high profile work in that team. Like others, not sure where this leaves them ...

  • Agree with all sentiments. Ed is a highly personable individual with a fantastic client base and the corporate team at SJB will be poorer without him in all respects. Wish him well, super talented and sure he has a great future ahead of him.

  • Hello! I am a lawyer in the regions! Who knew there was so much interest in one partner practising in physical education law!

Best of luck to him in his new firm!

  • Sad but inevitable. Hugely disappointing for Berwins. Hugely exciting for Ed Harris. In terms of speculation as to whether he'll take a team, I'm ex Berwins and always thought he was a little lost without the stability of particular associates around him. Shame the same can't be said of his partners, who I imagine he will not be in the slightest bit lost without.

  • When a firm is losing people at this rate from its marquee practice area then you know that the rot is very far advanced.
