  • I wonder if anyone has done some analysis to determine what percentage, when a firm begins to go a bit wobbly, of the recent lateral hires are the first to jump ship.

  • Congratulations to him.

  • Oh SJ Berwin, SJ Berwin, SJ Berwin. Will you ever learn?

  • Great for Hogan Lovells, terrible for SJ Berwin's deals practice. Harris has been one of the biggest players in their team from a high profile deal perspective. Risky move for him, but great if he can transfer his client base.

  • Nice guy, and incredibly bright. Wish him well with this move.

  • There seems to be new revelations about SJB every month. I don't think bad publicity is always "publicity" in the legal field.

Congrats to Harris - one of the lucky ones.

  • Lucy Burton, where is the photo? He is a hottie.

  • With EH leaving, who is left at SJB with a credible practice (apart from head Steven Davis)? Davis will have to keep that team afloat in terms of deal quality, client strength and profile. It's been said before, but sinking ship ... no?

  • Don't think it's right to attribute Ed's departure to a deal he happened to work with Stuart Brinkworth on. I imagine Ed, like everybody else who has left SJB, had had his fill of the appalling and stifling culture that exists among the partnership at SJB and Lovells had an opportunity. Wish him the best of luck with the move.

  • Great hire for Lovells. This will do wonders for their private equity practice. For SJB, yet another departure that no doubt could have been prevented with proper management. They will have nobody decent left.

  • Congrats to him. I'm sure he'll flourish outside SJB. Used to work there and he has some great clients and great work. He never really fit in with that team I have to say - in my opinion at least. Thoroughly nice chap. There is a great associate in that team that he works a lot with and who is definitely a calming influence on his projects (I found Ed to be exceptional, but tough and demanding). She will probably follow, which in itself is a blow for that team. Can SJB afford any more losses?

  • When I worked at SJB years ago, Ed was a partner but treated like a senior associate - did most of his work, never got the credit. How the tables have turned. Good for him.

  • Do Hogan Lovells take umbrage at being called "Lovells" only?

  • That's Leanne Moezi gone too then I suspect. Real shame.

  • Quelle surprise.

  • No disrespect to Hogan Lovells, but their private equity practice is not a patch on SJB's. Says an awful lot about how wretched the culture must be at SJB if Harris taking a leap of faith and not upgrading. Wish him well.

  • Is this linked to the upcoming merger? Any more departures expected?

  • Wow. Ed and Leanne are a breath of fresh air on a soulless floor. Good on him, and I hope Leanne stays, but SJB's loss is Hogan Lovell's gain, sadly.

  • Can't say I'm surprised at this.
