DAC Beachcroft has announced a formal association with São Paulo-based corporate and commercial firm, Wongtschowski & Zanotta (W&Z) today.
The 28-strong team at W&Z advises clients in Brazil on corporate, capital and financial markets, contracts, civil and commercial litigation, tax, real estate and employment work.
DAC Beachcroft made a similar move earlier this year with formal associations with Colombian firm De La Torre & Monroy and Malaysia’s Gan Partnership. The deal with the Bogota-based outfit, which had a longstanding relationship with legacy firm Davies Arnold Cooper (DAC), had been agreed for two years with the view to turn it into a full merger (20 March 2013).
São Paulo-based W&Z has a referal relationship with JBO Advocacia, an insurance firm also based in Sao Paulo, which legacy firm DAC formed an association with in 2010 as part of its strategy build its network in Latin America. (6 September 2010)
In a statement on the association, managing partner at DAC Beachcroft Paul Murray, described the alliance as a “milestone” in the firm’s ongoing strategy to expand internationally.
“We’re delighted to see the firm’s network continue to expand in Latin America and to extend our international credentials beyond insurance work. Our associations in Brazil are particularly important as the current rules don’t allow for foreign-owned firms to operate within the country” Murray said.
W&Z partner Alex Zanotta said that the firm already had a presence in the Brazilian market but that this association would also expand its practice into the international markets in which DAC Beachcroft is present.
Beachcroft merged with Davies Arnold Cooper (DAC) in October 2011 (31 October 2011). The combined firm posted turnover of £163m at the latest year-end (28 June 2012).
