What was your worst experience as a trainee?
Not mine, but a classic involved a fellow trainee returning from Armley jail in Leeds advising the partner involved that a prisoner had refused to accept service of a High Court writ, so he had brought it back to the office.

What’s your biggest work/career mistake and what did you learn from it?
Working for others – you only really enjoy yourself when you work for yourself and hold partner meetings with a mirror.
If you weren’t a lawyer, what would you have been?
Off my daily medication.

My office manager, for putting up with me for so long.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
Zabar on the Danube in Belgrade, or Grispolis on the Adriatic in Montenegro.

What’s the longest you’ve worked without sleep?
Well, the longest I have slept without work is two days.

Robin Williams – he never seems to take himself too seriously.
