What was your first-ever job? Working for my father in his newsagents’ business and being left in charge of the sweets counter.
What was your worst experience as a trainee?
Having to be in the office every morning before my supervising partner to turn his computer on, and then having to turn it off every night after he had left. He never actually used it.
Where’s the best place to go if you want to find out what’s really going on in the office? Lunchtime in the kitchen.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
Le Petite Nantais at Hampton Court.
If you weren’t a lawyer what else would you have been?
A vet or a music teacher.
Who’s your hero and why?
The late Jane Emily Tomlinson, CBE, an amateur English athlete who raised around £1.85m for charity by completing a series of athletic challenges despite having terminal cancer. We met while competing in the London Triathlon and she was a real inspiration to me.
What’s your biggest work/career mistake and what did you learn from it?
There’s a saying, “If you want something done, give it to a busy person.” Well, I have learned to say no.
What’s the toughest thing about your job?
What’s the longest you’ve worked without sleep?
I was acting for administrators a few years ago, when we had to sell a muffin factory before all the ingredients ran out – I saw it through after 34 hours of solid work.
Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself (in any order).
I recently organised and participated in the R3 Strictly Come Dancing competition, dancing a paso doble (and raising more than £35,000); I’m addicted to chocolate; I was the youngest member of the North Yorkshire County Orchestra at the age of 12
