The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Some things in life are bad, they can really make you mad. At which point, it might be time to turn to Monty Python for advice. Lawyers have been chewing on life’s gristle this week after well-known litigator Tom O’Riordan turned out to have a bogus CV, news that’s been met with a whistle by ex-employer Quadrant Chambers.
Looking on the bright side of life, the set’s chief executive Tim Gerrard says O’Riordan’s reputation was more important than his academic references when he joined in 2008.
“When Tom came to us, he came with an impeccable client track record so to be honest we weren’t desperately interested in checking his academic documents,” Gerrard says. “Just because Tom didn’t have the qualifications he claimed, it doesn’t mean he wasn’t a barrister. He was highly competent.”
This might not have helped things turn out for the best, but the sunny attitude has caught on - Penningtons tells us it is “optimistic” that a merger deal will go ahead with Manches, despite a partner vote on the tie-up taking longer than expected. If it all turns out to be a show, let’s hope partners are kept laughing as they as they go.
