This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
This is the one. The one all of the bar has been waiting for. The hottest rankings of the year. Literally.
There has never been so much email traffic in the inns. Everyone is poring over the newest rankings at the bar - the 21 hottest barristers in London 2013. Clearly, it’s an outrage that these accomplished brainiacs should be ranked on their looks and we in no way endorse this. So we asked the featured barristers what they thought of the tongue-in-cheek site.
Topping the list is 39 Essex Street’s Patrick Hennessey, who told us that his listing could form the basis of a new career if the strain of over-regulation proves too much for the bar to bear.
That strain isn’t showing at Hennessey’s set right now, however, at least when it comes to the more serious issue of cold, hard cash. Today 39 Essex Street revealed bumper revenues of £48.3m. Like many solicitors’ firms, growth at the set has been driven by wider consolidation, with chambers taking in 24 new members from 4-5 Gray’s Inn last November.
To continue that kind of growth Hennessey and his peers will have to work through the heatwave instead of brushing up their tans.
