This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Nabarro has promoted eight lawyers to its partnership, six based in London and two in Sheffield.
This is a significant increase on last year, when the firm made up just one new partner, and one of the largest rounds seen at the firm in recent years. In 2011 Nabarro made up five to partner, its highest number in three years (18 April 2011).
All eight of this year’s new partners took part in the firm’s Talent Development Programme, which was set up in 2010 with the aim of preparing senior associates for partnership (6 December 2010). A joint venture with London Business School, the programme was designed to create a wider pool of potential partnership candidates by putting up to 15 lawyers a year through a two-year course focusing on areas such as strategic projects, practice development work and thought leadership.
According to senior partner Graham Stedman, the fact that this year’s round is the largest the firm has seen for several years shows the firm’s commitment to its lawyers. That said, only one of the new partners, London-based disputes lawyer Andrew Taplin, trained at the firm.
“The promotion of eight to the partnership across our offices in London and Sheffield demonstrates our commitment to investing in the future of Nabarro by developing talent and promoting from within,” Stedman said in a statement. “I’d like to congratulate each of our new partners and thank them for the important contribution I know they’ll make in key strategic areas for the firm.”
The firm has remained true to its real estate roots in this year’s round, with two of the new partners promoted into that practice and another one joining the real estate disputes partnership. Construction has also received two new partners, with corporate, disputes and tax receiving one each.
The group of eight will take up their new positions on 1 May.
