The media specialists have been appointed ahead of BT’s launch of a dedicated sports channel, which will carry Premier League football matches after the company won certain broadcast rights over the coverage.
Global advisers are split into three main regions - Asia Pacific, north and Latin America, and Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Americas advisers include Covington & Burling, Proskauer Rose and Willkie Farr & Gallagher. Baker & McKenzie will advise BT in Australia and China, with Freshfields also providing Asia Pacific advice. Singapore firm Allen & Gledhill and India’s Trilegal have also won spots.
In Europe, BT will turn to Bird & Bird and CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre in France, and Beiten Burkhardt in Germany, among others.
The global advice is needed for BT’s IT and telephony services and corporate customers worldwide.
The panel review was carried out by group general counsel Dan Fitz and Miles Jobling, who is director of the company’s ABS BT Law (4 March 2013). The company will also continue to obtain legal advice from its in-house team, BT Legal.
