  • Earth Wind and Squires misfires at this year’s Law Rocks. Their guitarist’s posh new kit, which had been programmed up to reproduce samples from the original songs, including pistol shots for the ending of Logical Song, went into meltdown as the US firm started their set. Singer Cathryn Williams said “ I’m not sure what went on with his floor kit but he was tapping it so much with his feet I thought he was doing the Riverdance”. Other band members commented “We really started a trend last year with our funny hats and confetti guns…..you couldn’t get in the Green Room this year for inflatable guitars, flashing balloons and lubricant for rubber dresses”. Fortunately, EWS managed to find the keys to the handcuffs used during the Police medley, but threw them away again after cuffing Nick Child for drawing us out of the hat to play first. Guitarist Garfield Smith commented, ““We were disappointed not to hold onto our title, especially as we had fans from a number of our international offices fly in especially for the event. However, at the end of the day, we thought Big Ghost deserved to win. They have musical integrity which is something that has never concerned us. We only reformed this year for the money (albeit for our firm charity, the Richard’s house, a children’s hospice in East London).”

  • What a great night. It was the best Law Rocks to date. The quality of the bands just gets better and better every year.

  • I'm jealous. There's 3 lawyers in our band plus an almost lawyer (he's an accountant who wishes he was a lawyer). We practice law and occasionally music in Cyprus. Can we get a guest spot / special appearance for next year? Someone? Anyone? :)

  • I concur with Mr Child's view that the Judges improve gig by gig....Now remind me who was judging this recent event...oh yes, that would be the author of this article together with yours truly!

  • JessT, the author of this article concurs with you that the judges were frankly top notch, never bettered and, dare I say, Supreme. Not, you understand, the Supremes...
