Irwin Mitchell strategic client relationships chief executive Joe Simpson is to retire after more than 30 years with the firm.
Simpson has been insrumental in the firm’s development, having devised some of it’s key commodity law relationships. Among those were RAC, the Automobile Association (5 November 2007) and the Telegraph Media Group (22 March 2010).
He will stand down from the firm and resign his board membership at the end of the financial year.
Group chief executive John Pickering said: “Joe has played a major role in helping Irwin Mitchell to become the strong business that it is today and in the growth of our firm over his three decades with us.
“He has been at the heart of many innovative developments in his time here and has been a popular figure throughout our business who will be missed by many people when he leaves, including myself.”
The firm said Simpson was planning to pursue new opportunities including offers of non-executive director roles outside of the legal sector. He will remain at the firm as a consultant until the summer.
His retirement comes a year after another Irwin Mitchell stalwart, chairman Michael Napier, stood down from the firm (16 November 2011).
