  • The shambles of Duncan Weston's career as managing partner at CMS is complete. This was the main pillar (or should I say 'plank', it seems so much more appropriate all round) of his strategy. This outcome was always on the cards. My friends and I who used to work in the support functions and took the first announcement ofoutsourcing as an opportunity to leave (well in advance of redundancy notifications) have moved on to bigger and better-paid jobs elsewhere. Thanks CMS!

  • As someone who used to work at CMS and saw the support teams being destroyed by this process, this news has made my Easter. Out for a few drinks tonight. Cheers!

  • I remember Duncan paying the support teams (pre Integreon) a visit asking people to take a 4% paycut to protect jobs. Within a year or so many who did were gone anyway. Reversing the Integreon deal does not make it right. The CMS managmenet team should resign but they'd probably mess up trying to implement that too. Toothless, useless, hopeless, worthless.

  • If I were one of those now affected, I'd be looking for a change of employment outside of the CMS-Integreon net. Believe me, this incessant tickering with staff has been going on for 6 years and I doubt it will stop even now.

  • Outsourcing in EC1 - der!? Flawed from the off executed disastrously. Word was that Integreon were losing 250k/month.....

  • What there partners fail to realise is what motivates support staff, who often do mind numbing and repetitive tasks, is not only a wage but pride and a sense of belonging. Most of the support staff are proud to say they work in the City, to have interaction with lawyers, to be able to say they work for Freshfields or Camerons. Many like to do a good job because they see the lawyers working hard and want to support them in their efforts. Relationships of mutual support and respect are often formed and grow.
    When you outsource this work to staff who have sense of belonging to the firm you lose all of this.

  • So those advocating the outsourcing have buggered off because of the flaws in this model. Lets hope other law firms do some proper due dilligence and learn from this experience and are not tempted by fancy pitches and false promises of cost savings.
