WINNER: Sorainen

Sorainen takes the Baltic Firm of the Year award for an entry which one judge said “was deeply impressive and showed real achievement”.

In the past few years Sorainen has undergone exceptional growth, with revenue doubling since 2005. In 2012 the firm reported turnover growth of 4 per cent, with profitability rising by 10 per cent. The firm was on track to beat its 2012 performance in 2013, and it hit a record in billed hours for July last year.

The growth has been helped by a programme of lateral hiring across the firm's offices.

Last year Sorainen established five sector groups – energy, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, finance, food and agriculture, and real estate. The aim is to deepen the firm’s knowledge of its clients’ industries.

The firm is increasingly operating across the entire Baltic region. An example of the type of work it is instructed on now is the cross-border merger of insurance group Ergo, consolidating its Baltic subsidiaries into a single European Company.
