Winning women over

  • Setting targets is a great idea, but it's tinkering inside a structure that itself is the problem. The traditional model for law firms has disenfranchised thousands of highly skilled, highly trained female lawyers for decades. As the percentage of women entering the profession continues to grow I would anticipate that this will lead...eventually....to a greater degree of flexibility in the working structures of top firms. Technology facilitates this and given the gradually shifting gender balance clients are likely to welcome this as well in the future. The brave would make a real commitment to this issue now - simply because it makes good business sense and with no need to patronise through positive discrimination.
