Squire Sanders has made up eight new partners in its annual round of promotions, half of whom are in the UK.
The number of new partners is down on last year, when 13 lawyers were made up (14 March 2012). In 2011, Squire Sanders made up 17 new partners.
Four of this year’s new partners hail from UK offices: three in London and one in Leeds. The rest are spread across the US, with one in Columbus, one in Houston, one in Los Angeles and one in Cleveland.
In terms of practice areas, litigation was the most well represented with three hires. The pensions team, environment, corporate, employment and IP and technology all got one new partner each. The promotions take effect from 1 January for US lawyers and 1 May for UK lawyers. At the same time as the partner promotions, Squire Sanders also made up five lawyers to principal, a role that sits between the ranks of senior associate and partner and does not require equity to be contributed to the firm.
In a statement, Squire Sanders CEO James Maiwurm, said: “On behalf of the firm, I’d like to congratulate our new partners and principals on achieving this well-deserved career milestone. They each bring a depth of knowledge and expertise to their practice areas and will continue our tradition of providing the highest quality of service to our clients.”
