Weil Gotshal & Manges Paris partner Laurent Faugérolas has left both legal practice and France to set up a corporate advisory boutique in London specialising in the oil and gas sector.
Faugérolas, acknowledged as one of the Paris market’s corporate stars, joined Weil Gotshal from Willkie Farr & Gallagher in 2011 (31 January 2011). He left the firm in December to pursue a non-legal career.
Faugérolas said he had set up an M&A advisory boutique, LF Advising, acting for French and other clients on transactions with a particular focus on the energy sector.
“I wanted to be more autonomous,” he told The Lawyer, adding that the boutique was not offering legal advice.
He said he felt that London offered a more entrepeneurial environment in which to work.
Faugérolas is sharing office space in Mayfair with a similar francophone advisory boutique.
