Taylor Wessing’s Germany managing partner Wolfgang Rehmann is returning to full-time fee-earning, over a decade after leading legacy firm Wessing into a merger with Taylor Joynson Garrett.
Rehmann will be replaced as Germany managing partner by Michael-Florian Ranft, who was elected to the role at a partner meeting in Hamburg last week (22 March).
Ranft was previously international head of Taylor Wessing’s China Group, and will also continue to lead the practice internationally. Ranft spearheaded the firm’s entry into Shanghai and Beijing (21 July 2008) and was also instrumental in forging an alliance with Singapore firm RHT Law (31 August 2011). Joachim Glatter is taking over from Ranft as German China group head, and Robert Fenner leads the UK’s efforts in China.
He said his task in the new role would be to continue to boost the firm’s international profile, as well as its standing with German mittelstand or mid-tier corporates. He will sit on Taylor Wessing’s German management board alongside Torsten van Jeger, Christoph Vaupel, Andreas Wirth and Jörg Wimmers.
Rehmann was co-managing partner of Wessing, which merged with Taylor Joynson Garrett in 2002 (22 April 2002), and was jointly responsible for integrating the combined practice (20 January 2003). A pharmaceutical and medical law specialist, he will return to fee-earning work in the Munich office.
