Benelux firm Stibbe has hired two partners from White & Case’s Brussels office in a boost for the firm’s corporate and private equity team.
White & Case partner Stefan Odeurs and local partner Dries Hommez, both of whom practise private equity and corporate law, are due to join Stibbe later in the spring.
The hires bring the number of lawyers in Stibbe’s corporate and finance team in Belgium to eight partners and 27 associates.
The duo both began their careers at Stibbe, with Odeurs leaving to join White & Case as a partner in 2004 and Hommez moving in 2005. He was made up in 2009.
In a statement Odeurs said: “Becoming part of Stibbe will allow us to not only further grow our practice but also serve our clients even better.”
Hommez added: “We’re very excited to return to our roots. Although it’s been some time ago since we left, we’ve never lost touch with the current partners, and it feels as if we’ve never really parted.”
Stibbe corporate partner Olivier Clevenbergh left the firm earlier this year to set up a corporate boutique (7 January 2013). Meanwhile White & Case announced earlier this week it was launching a Spanish office with the hire of two lawyers from Latham & Watkins (19 March 2013).
