Linklaters has confirmed the make-up of its Seoul office following its regulatory go-ahead earlier this month, with the firm transferring four Hong Kong lawyers to staff the newly-launched base.
Capital markets partner Hyung Jung Ahn will lead the outpost as head of the Korea practice, joined by banking and projects partner Stephen Le Vesconte, corporate counsel Kyungseok Kim and senior capital markets consultant Hyo Young Kang.
The quartet were previously in the magic circle outfit’s Hong Kong office and will be supported by a team of Korean-speaking associates in Seoul and Hong Kong.
The base has already launched, with the news following confirmation of Linklaters’ green light from South Korea’s Ministry of Law earlier this month (2 May 2013).
Linklaters Asia-Pacific managing partner Stuart Salt said in a statement: “The opening of Linklaters’ Seoul office underlines the firm’s strategy of extending our coverage to better meet the needs of our clients. We look forward to building on our 30-plus years of experience advising leading Korean corporations and financial institutions.”
