K&L Gates has hired a partner each from Allen & Overy (A&O) and Orrick, Herington & Sutcliffe in Hong Kong to build up its corporate and dispute resolution practice.
Corporate partner David Johnson joins the office from A&O, while dispute resolution partner Samuel Ngo joins from Orrick, where he was an of counsel in the litigation group.
Johnson advises issuers and underwriters on corporate financing transaction and Ngo represents PRC and Hong Kong-listed companies on commercial litigation and arbitration matters.
Since the beginning of 2012 K&L Gates has kickstarted growth of the Hong Kong base with the hire of partner Neil Campbell, former co-head of O’Melveny & Myers’ Asia debt capital markets practice (12 March 2012). The latest appointments push the total number of the firm’s partners in Hong Kong to eight.
The firm has also recently expanded its footprint in the Asia Paciifc region by opening an office in Seoul (15 November 2012) and merging with Australian firm Middletons (4 December 2012).
