Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has made its first Singapore partner lateral hire following obtaining a Qualifying Foreign Law Practice in the city state earlier this year.
Gibson Dunn has named Hogan Lovells’ Singapore head of oil and gas practice Brad Roach as a partner in its Singapore office. Roach has more than 17 years of experience in the energy, infrastructure and project finance sectors throughout Asia and the Middle East and has been based in Singapore since 1996.
Roach joined legacy Lovells’ Singapore office in 2008 following a two-year stint at White & Case’s Singapore office as a partner, and prior to that he was a counsel at Skadden for eight years.
One of Roach’s recent deals was advising oil and gas exploration company Mitra Energy on its farmout of a 75 per cent working interest in Service Contract No 56 located in the Sulu Sea in the Philippines to Total E&P Philippines BV.
Following Roach’s move, Hogan Lovells, which has a joint law venture with Singaporean firm Lee & Lee, will have eight partners in Singapore, while Gibson Dunn’s partner headcount in Singapore will be four.
