Clifford Chance has hired Latham & Watkins’ head of investment funds in the Middle East and Africa Kai Schneider for its Singapore office.
Kai Schneider, Clifford Chance
Schneider is currently a partner based in Latham & Watkins’ Dubai office. He will relocate to Singapore for his new role in Clifford Chance, where he will head the office’s funds and investment management practice.
With more than 10 years of experience focusing in the funds sector, he has advised many clients on the formation of and investment in a wide variety of private investment funds. Having practised for some years in Dubai, Kai has also developed a strong background in Shari’ah-compliant funds.
Prior to joining Latham as an associate in 2008 and becoming a partner there in 2011, Schneider was an associate at Akin Gump’s Dubai office. He also previously practised at Clifford Chance’s Hong Kong office and at Weil, Gotshal & Manges in Washington DC.
Schneider’s appointment at Clifford Chance’s Singapore office comes three months following the departure of Singaporean funds partner Han Ming Ho who has joined Sidley Austin’s Singapore office (21 March 2013)
According to The Lawyer Asia Pacific 150, Clifford Chance had 306 full time equivalent lawyers for 2012 in Asia Pacific, over 60 of whom are based in its Singapore office.
