  • Much has been made of the fact that many senior legacy HS partners have left because they disagreed with the Freehills merger. And that London litigation partners resent subsidising the rest of the London office. I don't know about Thiha's situation, but a number of non-equity partners are very unhappy about the long and uncertain path to equity. Given that the pre-merger equity/non-equity partner ratio at Herbert Smith was 1:1 and the continuing profitability issues, including now also in Australia, non-equity partner unhappiness looks set to continue.
