DLA Piper announces US leadership appointments

DLA Piper has announced several office leadership appointments in the US.

Joe Alexander is to become co-managing partner of the Atlanta office, joining current OMP Robert Crewdson. Alexander is a member of DLA Piper’s Executive and Policy committees, the chair of the Corporate and Private Equity practices in the Southeast, and a member of the Leadership Committee of the US Corporate and Private Equity practices. He focuses his international practice on representing corporations and private equity funds in connection with mergers and acquisitions and corporate matters

John Gilluly is to become managing partner of the Austin office, succeeding Jim Montgomery. Gilluly leads DLA Piper’s Corporate and Securities practice in Texas and is a member of the firm’s Policy Committee. He advises clients across a range of industries in capital market transactions, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, and SEC reporting and governance

Fred McClure will become managing partner of the Tampa office, succeeding Ron Holliday. McClure is a co-chair of DLA Piper’s Diversity and Inclusion programme, a member of the Policy Committee, and leads the Litigation practice in Tampa. He has broad-ranging experience in many complex areas, including labour and employment litigation, product liability, insurance coverage and bad faith, insurance broker errors and omissions, and general civil and class action litigation.

David Mendelsohn is to become sole managing partner of the Chicago office, after serving alongside co-managing partner William Rudnick. Mendelsohn is the chair of DLA Piper’s Corporate and Finance practice in Chicago. He focuses his practice on insurance and reinsurance transactional, and regulatory matters and also advises and manages the firm’s global relationships with multiple Fortune 500 and other international companies in a range of industries. He also counsels clients on investigations, responding to subpoenas, compliance and information management matters, such as records management and retention, money laundering, data privacy and security, E&O risk management and ethics.
