This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Indeed, senior partner Stephen Kon himself had a cocktail in his hand when providing a commentary on his firm’s trip to the Spanish resort to The Lawyer last night.
He declined to comment on its merger talks with King & Wood Mallesons (KWM), which are being discussed partnership-wide for the first time at the retreat this weekend, as exclusively revealed today by The Lawyer.
But did confirm the weather was rather jolly.
“The weather in Marbella is lovely,” he said direct from the poolside on the Iberian coast. “In line with previous years but with more sun, sea and sand, we will be reviewing our financial outturn, our achievements during the year and our aims for 2013/14.”
Those aims will no doubt include convincing partners of the benefits of a £600m tie-up with KWM, as well as encouraging them to drown their sorrows over the likely disappearance of the SJ Berwin name by sipping piña coladas and pretending they’re in The Only Way Is Essex.
Well, it makes a change from last year’s annual gathering in the sunny county of Hertfordshire.
