New William Grant counsel to push CSR
Whisky company William Grant & Sons has hired Coca-Cola Enterprises legal chief Eva Bishop as its first-ever general counsel, handing her the remit for a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) drive.
Bishop will join the company at the start of next year, reporting to CEO Roland van Bommel. Current head of legal Andrew McLean will stay on at William Grant under Bishop.
Bishop said that driving ;the ;CSR agenda will be one of her main responsibilities, adding that diversity would be one of the main issues she will focus on.
“The role goes far beyond what you’d just call risk management,” she added.
Bishop said she would grow the legal team to support the business. At the moment the company’s ;lawyers ;consist ;of McLean, two paralegals and an in-house lawyer.
Bishop has been head of legal at Coca-Cola for four years. The company is still looking to replace Bishop.
William Grant owns whisky brands such as Glenfiddich and Balvenie.
