Lovells' Paris office is taking top partner Jean de Hauteclocque from Freshfields to set up its new litigation and arbitration team.
Hauteclocque was responsible for establishing Freshfields' litigation department in Paris during the mid-1980s. Now his aim is to boost the Parisian arm of Lovells' world-wide litigation and arbitration practice.
He will soon be joined by senior litigation lawyer Natalie Badetz and a junior associate, two colleagues from his former firm.
They will add to an existing team of more than 45 lawyers in Lovells' Paris office, which specialises in corporate and commercial law, banking, capital markets and structured finance as well as EU and competition work, IP, litigation and arbitration.
Managing partner Robert Folio says: "We are delighted that Jean will be joining us. We regard litigation and arbitration as an essential element in the full service approach we offer clients."
Hauteclocque says: "I joined Lovells because I wanted to devote more time to international arbitration. I was doing some at Freshfields but not as much as I would have liked."
