Newcastle-based Robert Muckle has appointed a new senior partner and re-elected its managing partner.
Hugh Welch, who has previously held both the managing and senior partner roles, takes over as senior partner from commercial partner Ian Gilthorpe, who has returned to a full-time fee-earning role at the end of his three-year term.
Managing partner Stephen McNicol has been re-elected for another three-year term.
McNicol said: "Ian's return to fee-earning is great because it allows him to dedicate more time to something he is exceptionally good at – winning new clients.
"Hugh has been appointed senior partner for three years and I’ve been reappointed managing partner for three years, [which] puts in place a solid management structure to take the firm forward into the next phase of our growth."
Robert Muckle increased turnover by 19 per cent in the 2006-07 financial year from £8m to £9.3m. However, the firm lost real estate partner Barney Frith to Watson Burton last month (The Lawyer, 23 April).
