New logo marks 'watershed' in firm's history

AFTER 150 years, Linklaters & Paines is dropping the "Paines" from its new logo (right) in a revamp of its corporate identity, coinciding with its move to new City offices at 1 Silk Street.

Managing partner Terence Kyle said the move "will mark a watershed in the firm's history". For the first time in many years all London staff will be under the same roof.

They are currently scattered over three different buildings close to Silk Street. Six hundred staff have already moved. The 1,000-plus remaining staff will move by 13 October.

The firm has also relocated IT and other support functions to a new data and communications centre in Colchester.

"To coincide with the move the firm has undertaken a review of its visual identity," said Kyle. The "new-look Linklaters" will be unveiled this week.

The full name Linklaters & Paines will be retained as the firm's official name, registered with the Law Society.
