New head for Dorset

Dorset County Council has appointed Olwen Pritchard-Jones to head its 21-strong legal department. A former solicitor at Tyne and Wear, Monmouth and Dyfed County Councils, Pritchard-Jones will become head of legal services following the sudden death of Michael Davies in February. Olwen-Jones last job was with the Pembrokeshire National Park Authority but she says she is eager to get back into local government. She said that while local government lawyers had to meet increasing demands from individuals and central government, the challenges ahead should be seen more as an opportunity than a threat.
