The Lawyer has hired former deputy editor of Marketing Week Sean Brierley as its new editor.
Brierley has been a journalist for 10 years and is a former university lecturer in mass communications and journalism.
He has written a best-selling book on the advertising industry and has a masters degree in public policy and administration.
He replaces Mary Heaney who has left to pursue other interests.
"The Lawyer broke the mould in legal journalism and has established a unique reputation for campaigning, independent and hard-hitting coverage. While maintaining the paper's high standards my first role will be to oversee major expansion plans," he said.
