On 19 February 2014, Mr Xu, the director of the Antitrust Bureau of the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the antitrust enforcement authority in China in charge of price-related anti-competitive behaviour, indicated at a press conference that NDRC is currently collecting relevant information in the automotive parts industry and will likely launch antitrust investigations in this sector on suspicion of price-fixing cartels.

Automotive parts companies and OEMs (as long as their products are sold in China) might be involved in the potential NDRC investigations in two ways: being the investigation targets; and being the relevant parties and therefore being required to co-operate in the investigation process by providing information and answering questions to NDRC…
