NCLT launches PSC offering

The NCLT, a college recently born out of an alliance between Central Law Training (CLT) and the University of the West of England (UWE), will be offering a Professional Skills Course (PSC) to trainee solicitors from September 2009.

Managing director of CLT Group Stephen Broome said: “ The launch of the PSC is part of our strategy to offer a greater choice of affordable and accessible training courses.”

Trainees wanting to study the eight-day PSC, the final compulsory part of a training contract before qualification, will have to fork out £1,295 but can then choose to study it in Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Leeds, London, Manchester or Southampton. 

Elsewhere, candidates can study the PSC at the College of Law and BPP Law School for £1,395 and £1,290 respectively.

The news comes after UWE and CLT announced that they had formalised their existing relationship by creating the NCLT to offer a cut-price, part-time Legal Practice Course (LPC) costing £5,900 (Lawyer2B.com, 2 February).

The part-time weekend study course, which costs almost 50 per cent less than the part-time LPCs available at the CoL and BPP, will be offered in conjunction with Southampton Solent University and the University of Westminster.
