National Power's head of legal is stepping down following the demerger of its UK and international businesses.
Stuart Wheeler will seek a new position after the demerger is completed.
The rest of the 18-strong legal team will be split between the new companies, International Power and Npower.
When the energy giant first decided to demerge in November last year, the legal department was hit by a flood of resignations. But Wheeler claimed at the time it was simply “natural wastage” (The Lawyer, 29 November).
A National Power spokes-man says: “Stuart is going to assist with the demerger process but did not feel it was appropriate to go to either of the companies.”
He does not have another position to go to, but the spokesman confirms Wheeler has several irons in the fire.
