National duo lose RSA panel places

Addleshaw Goddard and Eversheds have been dropped from RSA’s UK legal panel following the insurance company’s revamp of its roster of external advisers.
Pinsent Masons is the only firm to have retained a place on the three-strong panel.
Addleshaws and Eversheds have been replaced by Clyde & Co and Reynolds Porter Chamberlain.
RSA, one of the UK’s biggest insurers, last conducted a review of its external advisers in 2007.
The latest panel review, which took effect from 1 September, was overseen by senior legal counsel Sarah Gray, with the next review scheduled to take place in 2012.
“This was a robust review and we received some excellent applications,” said RSA general counsel Neville Howe. “We now have three strong firms able to provide specialist advice in areas such as commercial contracts, acquisitions, employment, litigation and intellectual property.
“We were not only looking at the level of expertise, but also for firms that understood our business.
“There was an emphasis on relationships and forging strong working ties. We want the firms we work with to really be part of the legal team.”
The legal team is split into three core areas covering broker, retail and affinity.
