This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Nabarro Nathanson’s former head of commercial IT is keeping the launch of his new law firm in the family after naming the fledgling practice after his children.
TRG law, which goes live on 4 May, is named after Paul Golding’s children Tim and Rebecca.
Golding, who spent 19 years with both Nabarros and its 1995 merger partner Turner Kenneth Brown, is launching the firm to focus on commercial contracts involving intellectual property and information technology and hopes to grow the practice to approximately five lawyers.
Commenting on his decision to go it alone, Golding said: "TRG law will be a top-quality, relatively small firm with better service than a larger firm at a more accessible rate."
He added: "As I became more senior I became more expensive and more removed from the ability to win work. At the heart of things, I am a lawyer and I want to practice my legal skills, negotiating a project hands-on."
It is understood that Golding’s departure from Nabarros is amicable and that the lawyer will work with his former firm "as and when appropriate."
