  • What a load of nonsense, how are you supposed to get an idea of what someone's like in three minute sessions? Stupid idea.

  • I think getting to meet non-lawyers during an assessment day is a brilliant idea to help you get a better idea about the culture of firm.

  • I think it provides a practical way to assess the person's ability to make an impact in a short time frame. A skill which many lawyers cannot always be taught yet need in so many situations when landing new clients.

  • i was on their assessment day. i got through. i thought it was great fun and a good way to get the rhetorical juices flowing prior to the interview. although having to talk for three minutes on marmite was a little challenging

  • Fantastic idea. 3 minutes is plenty of time for someone to form an opinion be it positive or negative. Nothing to lose, everything to gain!

  • I was on their assessment day too, and like 'a schemer' got through. It was definitely the best part of the day, perhaps because it was so novel and it gave us a genuine chance to speak to employees from across the firm. For most conversations, I wished it could have lasted more than three minutes!

  • I also attended and got through. I think it helped my chances a great deal as i am a "well rounded" applicant, so i got to show the firm that there is more to me than my standard 2.1 degree.
