Nabarro corporate partner Elliot Shear is to leave the firm to become managing director of an outsourcing boutique for clients’ in-house legal functions.
Shear, whose clients include defence contractor General Dynamics (GD), will join Whale Rock Legal on 1 July. The legal arm of the City-based professional services group seconds lawyers to companies to work with thier accountancy and company secretarial divisions. It currently focuses on international trade and litigation, an offering headed by legal CEO Nigel Kushner.
AIM specialist Shear will add corporate finance and M&A to the repertoire.
Shear, who featured in The Lawyer Hot 100 2009, will continue to work with Nabarro for GD, for which he was the relationship partner. He advised the client on its £2bn Ministry of Defence contract to supply armoured vehicles to the British Army in 2010.
